It’s time to feature yet another one of our amazing wholesale partners… and this time, we’re headed to Alaska. Truth be told, Nashelle has been in Alaska for a long time. In fact, the wholesaler we’re featuring today was one of our first partners—and our founder Heather Straw actually grew up in the land of the midnight sun.
Meet Annie Kaill’s!
Annie Kaill’s has been carrying Nashelle for over seven years, and we just got to see the lovely owners, Colleen and Ben Goldrich, when they visited us here in Bend last month. We don’t often get to visit with our wholesalers, so when they stop by it’s always a special occasion!
Colleen and Ben aren’t originally from Alaska, but we love their story. In 1985 Ben had moved from Oregon to Juneau to work in tourism. Colleen took a summer tourism job as a bus driver and Ben was the first person she met when she landed in Juneau. Less than a year later they were both not only in love with the state but with each other and they’ve been together ever since! They bought Annie Kaill’s in 2013 and are continuing to live the dream in Juneau.
Annie Kaill’s History
Annie Kaill’s was originally opened in 1975, by a young woman entrepreneur: Annie Kaill. Since those days, the store has always been owned and operated primarily by women. As a women-run business ourselves here at Nashelle, we love seeing that in other businesses!
Annie Kaill’s has repeatedly been called the “best gallery in Alaska,” and has been responsible for bringing many artists to the scene through the years they’ve been operating. Alaska is full of creative and talented people, and it's truly wonderful to work with the talented folks over at Annie Kaill's!
Annie Kaill’s and Nashelle
Annie Kaill’s carries a lot of Nashelle products, but we have to talk about our favorite piece that we send out their way… the Alaska state ‘Identity’ necklace!
This is the perfect gift for any Alaskan—or anyone that has a love for the Last Frontier!
Annie Kaill’s also features a lot of our ‘Identity’ collection in their storefront, along with a samples from our other jewelry lines.
We have had so much fun working with Ben and Colleen and we’re excited to continue working with them in the coming years! If you’re passing through Juneau, be sure to stop in and tell them we say hello!

Nashelle is blessed to be based in a city that stresses the importance of recycling, and cares for its parks and surrounding forests, but we are certainly not perfect, and no community is!
Recycling comes in many different forms—it’s not simply about breaking down boxes and putting out the recycling can early in the morning. Here's a little more information about how recycling happens here at Nashelle.
Recycling in the Jewelry World
The jewelry industry has a big impact on Mother Earth. Precious metals are not come by easily, and many brands and suppliers take from the earth in a toxic fashion. Gold and silver come straight from the earth, and that can quickly take its toll on the world around us.
So how does recycling work, when it comes to precious metals? Not every single scrap can be re-used, but here at Nashelle, we do it as much as we can. Whenever we are able, we send our scraps back to our suppliers, to be melted down to its base, and re-created into something beautiful.
Whenever possible, we buy recycled metals: in brass, silver and gold.
When we choose our suppliers, one of the first things we ask is their dedication to the environment. Where do they get their metals? Are their metals conflict-free? Are the metals from here in the states? Do they aim to be sustainable in their manufacturing? Are they using fair trade and ecologically sound methods of extraction?
We are blessed to be able to work with some of the most forward-thinking suppliers and vendors in the jewelry business. They are environmentally sound, sustainable and socially conscious organizations—dedicated to preserving our earth as much as they possibly can. Many of our vendors have actually won awards for their environmentally conscious business practices.
We think the same way. We want to shrink our environmental impact wherever possible, and inspire other jewelry businesses to do the same. We can only impact this earth for the better if we all work together to stop buying precious metals from conflict zones, and encourage the businesses we support to recycle and use reclaimed materials whenever possible.
Thanks for supporting us in our endeavor to recycle as much as we can!

Have we ever mentioned we LOVE giveaways? But what we love even MORE is the idea of paying it forward. Of doing good and giving back and helping others. And we want to see how YOU do it!
From our founder:
I am inspired to do something CRAZY. And because I am the owner, I get to throw caution to the wind and see if I can pull off my WILD idea.... wink.
I want to cultivate change, to ignite thought and intention... To help create a beautiful world around us. It is my passion. I believe strongly in 'paying it forward', in love & kindness to those you know and those may never get a chance to ever know. The life we live now with intention and grace will create a beautiful shift in this lifetime. Starting today and for the next 2 weeks.... I want to see YOU share what you do that day to 'Pay It Forward', to create beauty! Shout from the roof tops how you went out of your way to help another person, to help create a smile, to offer a hug, share a cup of coffee, lend an ear, compliment a child, visit an elderly, drop a meal off of on a neighbors porch that may just need a break. Whatever....!! It can be tiny or grandiose.... The intention is just that is it pure love and honest kindness.
Each day the TOP 10 submissions on the actual day of the post with the MOST 'likes' will be gifted a bracelet that is very near and dear to US here at 'Nashelle' - our 'Pay It Forward' Heart Bracelet. The 'voting' is OPEN to the public!! We will be giving away 140 bracelets total!! The submissions start at 9:00am PST each day and end at 9:00am PST the following day for two weeks!! Lets do something CRAZY and INSPIRE each other and TALK openly about how WE all are making a change TOGETHER!! YES!! Have FUN, spread the word of INSPIRATION and post HERE on our 'Nashelle' fb page. Wishing TONS of love, happiness and support to everyone. Have a great day!!
Big X's and O's, Heather Nashelle Straw.

As Thanksgiving and the Christmas season round the corner, we’re excited to spend time with family, eat ridiculous amounts of pumpkin pie, and just love on each other with presents and quality time all season long. But there’s one more thing that we’re super excited about: PEAS AND LOVE!
During the first half of November, we are doing our annual food drive for Neighbor Impact here in Central Oregon—our Peas and Love campaign benefitting this amazing local organization.
From November 1 - 17, we will be offering a 20% discount on all Nashelle purchases in our showroom in the Old Mill District, to all patrons who bring in three or more non-perishable food items! Let’s send lots of love toward Neighbor Impact this holiday season
Learn more about Neighbor Impact at www.neighborimpact.org and come visit us in the Old Mill, Monday - Saturday from 10-8, or Sunday from 11-6.
